Our mission is to provide quality dance training in a positive, nurturing environment. In addition to learning dance technique and vocabulary, students learn responsibility and gain confidence as they master new skills. Dance classes are held in the Dance Studio at the JCC. All prices include classes, costume fees, School of Dance t-shirt, leotard, and recital fees. Pick up and drop off is available for all enrolled ECP students. Kids Connection provides pick up and drop off for all dance classes.
Meghan McCoy-Alchus grew up in Wisconsin, where she received her BFA in Dance from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and then packed up and moved to New York City, where she received her MFA from Sarah Lawrence College. After ten years of living as a dancer/choreographer/teacher in NYC, she relocated to Austin, Texas and has been dancing at the J ever since! Meghan is the Director of the School of Dance at the J. She teaches Pre-Ballet/Tap, Baby & Me, Ballet, Tap, and Pop Hop.
Originally from Texas, Kirstan Clifford has been active in teaching dance and movement practices, to ages that range from toddler to senior, for ten years. Graduating in 2009 with a BA in Dance and Dance Making from Sarah Lawrence College, Kirstan has until recently been active within the New York City dance community as a choreographer and dancer. Kirstan teaches Creative Movement 1, Creative Movement 2, Kiddie Pop, and Contemporary.
Maya Jefferson was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas. She danced at the studio level and competitively for twelve years as a member of Ashland's Affirming Arts Studio and West Brook Stars. Maya currently attends the University of Texas at Austin and studies Mathematics. She assists Creative Movement 1 & 2, Kiddie Pop, and Pre-Ballet/Tap.
Deborah Ritter grew up in Redmond, WA where she began dancing at an early age. She started with ballet, but soon expanded her studies to tap, jazz, musical theater, and modern. While studying at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, she taught beginning tap and performed with the Spartan Tappers. In 2010, she earned her BS in Mechanical Engineering. She joined the School of Dance in the Spring of 2012. Deborah teaches as a substitute as needed.
